As is sit by the fire, contemplating what it is that i desire
I focus on the warmth, the sound, the light
Creating space in me for a peaceful night
The way the flames encircle the wood,
Devouring it for a brief moment of illumination
A fleeting moment in time,
One life given for another,
Impermanence, a divine perfection
For one cannot exist without the other
Yet both need each other for rebirth
From a seed so small
Full of so much potential
To a tree, so majestic in its height and depth,
To a fallen branch now burning away into ash
This circle called life
So beautiful and brutal
Joyous and melancholic
From what once stood so tall and humble
Now drifting away on the cool night’s breeze
A transfer of solid energy to a wispy cloud
To become what it is that will be the death of the fire and the life of the trees
